Frequently Asked:

Why would I want a doula?

Doulas are so beneficial to have during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. A doula can be an unbiased advocate for you during your pregnancy and birth, but a doula is so much more than that. A doula can help with physical and emotional coping techniques, a doula can help get your significant other more involved during the birthing process, a doula can help better educate you on pregnancy, birth, and potential interventions. In short, a doula is a professional who is specifically trained in pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. Hiring a doula has been directly linked to better birth outcomes and more satisfying experiences for mothers.

As your holistic birth doula, it is my job to help you advocate, to make sure you are heard, to empower you and educate you, and to make sure that all of your needs are being met (both emotionally and physically). I will be there every single step of the way to help you throughout your childbearing year and beyond!

What areas do you serve?

I serve a 1.5 hour radius from Canton, Georgia. This includes, but is not limited to: Cherokee County, Cobb County, Fulton County, Bartow County, Paulding County, Forsyth County, and more. I attend primarily homebirths and give homebirth doula support in and around Canton, GA and I also regularly provide hospital doula support at Northside Cherokee, North Fulton Hospital, and Northside Forsyth. If your county or hospital is not on this list, I am always happy to chat about it to see if it’s a fit for the both ofus.

What happens if you are sick or at another birth when I go into labor?

Don’t worry – it’s extremely rare that I won’t make a birth. However, in the slight off-chance that I absolutely cannot make a birth, I always have dedicated back-up doulas on standby.
What happens if I go into labor on a holiday?
I will be at your birth with a smile on my face 🙂
What doula course did you take?
I took Liv Pitt’s Birthcraft course! I also have additional certifications that have given me medical training and midwifery assistant training, but these are not relevant to doula support certifications.
Do I need to pay extra if my labor is extra long?
No! Of course not. This would cause stress for you on a very special day and my job is to help limit that stress! If your labor is extra long, I’ll be with you (no additional charges!) throughout the entire thing, OR if I need a break due to exhaustion, I will call in a back up doula to help out free of charge for you.
