Who do I serve?

I believe that every woman who desires to have a doula support them, deserves to have a doula, but I am not the right fit for every single mother. When choosing a doula, there are a few things that you should ask yourself. Two of those questions are: “do I see eye to eye with this doula/do our belief systems align” and “do I click with this doula?” Most (if not every) doulas will know how to do counter pressure and position changes. But, every doula will not have that true connection with you. Prioritize the connection! Your birth space is sacred. Your doula might have attended 2,000 births before yours and she may know all the best tips and tricks on counter pressure. But, what if you do not trust her? What if you do not “click” and have that connection? Your body will likely produce adrenaline and go into fight or flight, which makes it more challenging to have your baby. The same goes for your midwifery team.

The people you invite into your birthing space are more important than you think! If there’s anything else you do, make sure you “click” with your birth team.

As a North Georgia doula based out of Canton, I have a passion for unmedicated births and home births. I believe in physiological, natural, and uninterrupted birth. I believe in supporting the mothers ability to birth how she wants. I might know stages of labor and the hormones in birth, but only you know your body and your baby best and I will always follow that lead and your intuition.

As a birth doula in Canton, it is my greatest passion to help educate and empower mothers, giving them the courage to step into motherhood with knowledge and confidence. With my daughters birth, I had a doula and she was a huge resource to me. I was (and am) so thankful for her! I truly believe that without the doula I had (shoutout to Liv Pitts!), I would not have been able to give birth to my daughter without pain medication in the birth pool at North Fulton Hospital after being induced at 42 weeks. There was just no way. You can read about Avery’s birth here

Mothers who want to learn more: You can expect plenty of resources, help planning for your baby, and you will receive education about any and all topics of their choosing! We will also dive in deep about the birth process, the cardinal movements of birth, hormones that are important for birth, potential interventions, and options, giving you the knowledge and confidence to birth your child without fear at home or in the hospital. Once you do go into labor, I will be there with you every step of the way! During the postpartum period, I will also help you with your initial latch, be a constant support system for you, and walk with you through the beautiful transition into motherhood!

Unmedicated births: I believe that interfering with the normal physiological process of labor and birth increases the risk of complications for both the mother and baby. I love working with mothers who believe the same and have the goal to have an unmedicated birth, when possible. The mothers I work with typically put in hard work when it comes to education, movement, and nutrition, in order to prepare their bodies (and minds) for the healthiest pregnancy they can have.

Home births: After having a home birth of my own, I recognize the true level of care, compassion, and love that comes with a home birth from home birth care midwives. It’s truly unlike anything I have ever seen and so needed for mothers. Home birth providers truly “mother the mother,” which I full heartedly believe that we so badly need. Maternal suicide is a leading cause of maternal mortality in the U.S. and it’s more common than deaths by postpartum hemorrhage or hypertensive disorders. TWENTY percent of maternal deaths are due to suicide and I truly believe that part of the reason is because we have such a lack of true care (especially when it comes to postpartum care) in America. Home birth midwives and doulas work tirelessly to change this and to provide real compassionate and comprehensive care during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. This is just one reason why I love working with mothers who are birthing their babies at home.

I am a Canton Birth Doula and serve a 1.5 hour radius from Canton, Georgia, which includes but is not limited to: Cherokee County, Cobb County, Fulton County, Bartow County, Paulding County, Pickens County, Forsyth County, and more. I prefer to give homebirth doula support, but I also attend births at Northside Forsyth, Northside Cherokee, and North Fulton Hospital.
